Ariane Forster or better known as Ari Up, frontwoman of the British punk band – The Slits, this is the granddaughter of an owner of a famous newspaper in Germany Der Spiegel. Her mother, Nora, is also known in the music world because of her friendship with Jimmi Hendrix. Her mother later remarried to the main vocalist of the S*x Pistol band, John Lyndon. CAREER

Ari Up, who is famous for his distinctive hairstyle and vocal, skyrocketed through the band The Slits which she formed in 1976 when he was only 14 years old. The unique musical style of The Slits, a combination of punk and rhythm of reggae music, made it a band that was difficult to replace by other bands. The Slits’ original personnel formed by Up in their first years included Palmolive as drummer, guitarist Kate Sorus, and Suzi Gutsy as bassist. But after several appearances in public, Gutsy’s position was replaced by Tessa Polit and Korus was replaced by Viv Albertine. When The Slits broke up in 1981, Up decided to join The Age Steppers, before then singing a solo as Baby Ari, Madussa, and Ari Up. The first Up solo album, Dread More And Dead, was released in 2005.
