Patrick Mahomes has a father named Pat Mahomes who was a former MLB player, and his mother Randi Mahomes on September 17, 1995. However, his parents later divorced. Mahomes entered a school called Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. He then decided to play football, baseball, and basketball. In football, he has a record of 4,619 passing yards, 50 touchdown passes, 948 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns which make him a senior. When becoming a baseball player, he throws a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts in a match in his senior year. He was awarded the MaxPreps Male Athlete in 2013-2014.

Mahomes was named by Rivals.com as a three-star soccer recruit who won the 12th best threat-quarterback double ranking in his class. He is committed to the Texas University of Technology. Mahomes was also seen as the top prospect for the 2014 Major League Baseball draft but was not expected to be chosen because of his commitment to Texas Tech. He was chosen by the Detroit Tigers in the 37th round, but he decided not to sign.
