Two Door Club was formed first from the friendship between Trimble, Halliday, and Baird. The three of them first played as a band on the ATL Rock School program using the name Life Without Rory. Life Without Rory formed 3 demos before they finally added a new personnel to the position of drummer. With this formation, they changed the band’s name to Two Door Cinema Club. Actually, the name of the band was Tudor Cinema, but because Halliday mispronounced the name, they finally chose the name Two Door Cinema Club to be the name of their band.

Two Door Cinema Club first released an EP in 2009 with the title FOUR WORDS TO STAND UP. Receiving a positive response from the public, the band then began recording their romantic album in Paris, France. The album entitled TOURIST HISTORY was later released in Ireland on February 26, 2010, March 1, 2010 in the UK and only on April 27, 2010 was released in America.

Some of the mainstay singles from this album are used in television advertisements, namely Something Good Can Work and Undercover Martyn which appear in Vodafone and Meteor advertisements. The Martyn Undercover song is also the soundtrack of the Gran Turismo 5 game while the I Can Talk song is used in FIFA 11 and NBA 2K11 games.

June 20, 2012, the band announced the title of their second album, BEACON. This album was released on September 3, 2012 in England, and September 4, 2012 in other parts of the world. Coinciding with the date of the album’s release, they also released their first single, Sleep Alone.
